Thanh Ha Pottery Village, Hoi An

A 500-year-old pottery village on the river just outside Hoi An, where families still throw terracotta by hand on foot-powered wheels the way they always have. You can watch potters work, have a go on the wheel yourself, and pick up cheap handmade souvenirs straight from the makers. It's a genuine working craft village rather than a staged show, and reaching it by bicycle or boat along the river is half the pleasure. A small entry ticket supports the village. Pair it with the neighbouring terracotta park for a half-day away from the old town.
