Bay Mau Coconut Forest Tour

Bay Mau is the seven-hectare water-coconut forest at Cam Thanh outside Hoi An, and the standard tour is a basket-boat ride through its channels. A local paddles the round bamboo coracle out among the palms, spins it hard enough to make you grab the sides, and demonstrates the old crab-catching and leaf-weaving tricks. It's cheerful, cheap and a hit with kids, though the busiest stretches get crowded with music-blaring boats. Go earlier in the day for a calmer trip. Reach it by bike or scooter from the old town in under half an hour. Boat tours are paid.
